North Little Rock Police Working to Identify Shooting Victim

The man was found around 1:00 a.m. Sunday as police responded to a call at Campbell and Whippoorwill near East Broadway.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A man is dead after a shooting.

Officers were called to Campbell Rd. and Whippoorwill Lane around 1 a.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired. That's were they found a man lying in the roadway, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Neighbors say their North Little Rock neighborhood is for the most part safe and they thought they had forced all the crime out.

"Last time a murder went on in this area it was around like last year. We pretty much narrowed it down to who that guy was and got that guy out of here. But since then we haven't heard anything until now. It's really a sad thing to hear," says resident Jamark Mckinney.

Detectives are now trying to find out the identity of the victim and police are asking for the public's assistance. The victim is said to be a white man in his early 30's with numerous tattoos. He is 5'8" tall and appeared to be blind in his left eye.

Call the North Little Rock Police Department Detective Division at (501) 680-8439 if you have information on the victim's identity or any information about the killing.
