KARK 60 Web Extra: Roy Mitchell Newsreel

Snippets from the career of KARK's best-known newsman.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - For nearly 20 years, KARK News Anchor Roy Mitchell brought the day's top stories into living rooms all across Arkansas.

He joined KARK as managing editor in 1970 from Los Angeles television station KABC, where he was a news anchor.

On March 15, 1970, KARK launched its highly-rated "Eyewitness News" with Roy at the newsdesk, Tom Bonner's weather and Dave Woodman's sports.

Roy was still employed with KARK when he died in Feb. 1989 at age 61.

The attached video is a newsreel showing snippets of Roy's work at KARK. These snippets were provided by former KARK Reporter Gene Stewart. Gene passed away just two weeks ago (April 1, 1014).
