LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Starting Sept. 1, Aaron Nolan will take on a new role as the co-anchor of KARK 4 Today.

During a recent trip to New York City, Aaron had a chance to chat with Today Show anchor Matt Lauer.

The two talked about their jobs as morning show anchors and Aaron's love for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Lauer commented on his role as a morning show anchor saying, "There is a responsibility when you host a morning show that people are starting their day with you. So what you have to do is bring them the news that is important, the news that they missed overnight, what they need to know to live their day for the next 8-10 hours before they get their next news. That's what we try to do. It's hard to find that balance sometimes but even as people experience the bad news through us and with us, they need to also go off to work, school or wherever they're going with some sense of hope or optimism. and that's what we try to do every morning."

During the trip, Aaron, his soon-to-be co-anchor Mallory Brooks and Meteorologist Greg Dee, were also interviewed by Sirius XM radio.

One of Aaron's favorite moments of the trip was when he taught Matt Lauer to call the Hogs. Since the airing of Lauer's Hog call, many across Arkansas responded with mixed emotions, but Aaron says he enjoyed the time he spent with Lauer.

KARK 4 Today starts every morning at 5 a.m. On Thursday, Aug. 21, you can catch an interview Mallory did with Today Show Anchor Natalie Morales.
