Homeowner Fears Utility Poles Will Hurt Property Value

City leaders said the poles will help farmers and protect the environment.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A North Little Rock homeowner fears the placement of some utility poles will diminish his property values.

The poles will be going up on Willow Beach Road, which is off of Highway 165.

Gerald Paulton Jr. said he spotted utility poles across from his house and called City Hall. He learned that the poles will be going up to provide electricity to a nearby pump station.

Paulton fears the poles will hurt him and his neighbors in the long run.

"We've got people who invested their life's savings into their property and who wanted to retire here," Paulton said.

City Spokesman Nathan Hamilton said they don't know exactly where the poles will go, but they will not bring down property values.

He said they will meet with homeowners before they do go up.
