Health Matters: Irregular Heartbeat Disorders

A local man's life was changed after being treated for an irregular heartbeat disorder.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Cycling is a big part of Tom Turner's life.

So when he found out he suffered from an irregular heartbeat,

"That's when it all started," explained Turner.

he wanted to fix it fast and get back on the trails.

That fix would come from CHI St.Vincent's Hospital.

"I'm glad I did it I would recommend it," said Turner.

Turner received what's called a catheter ablation. It's a procedure that destroys small areas of heart tissue where abnormal heartbeats may cause an arrhythmia to start.

"It's a testament this really helped me. I have a lot more energy."

Just a month after the procedure Turner's bike wheels started spinning again. He even says he can ride for 20 miles and still mow the lawn!

The AFIB family Fun Run and Walk is Saturday September 23. It will begin and end at the north shore river walk at 8:00 a.m. in North Little Rock.

The fee is $25 before September 12. It goes up to $35 on September 13 up until the event.

You can register online at chistvincent.com.
