Friends Call Jefferson Co. Double Homicide 'Overwhelming'

Reality has not "set in yet" for family and friends of Anthony Branch and Deborah Moncrief who were found dead in their home.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR – It was a tough day for family and friends of Anthony Branch, 62, and Deborah Moncrief, 58.

The Jefferson County couple was found dead inside their home early Friday morning.

“It's just kind of overwhelming and I don't think it's totally set in yet,” said Kimberly Waters, who was a friend of Moncrief.

Waters said that Moncrief was like a mother to her. "She did a lot for me, growing up, and then even in my adulthood, you know, she got me the job out here. Just...it's real hard."

She also said Moncrief and Branch were a happy couple. "They got along really good and he made her really happy, so I was happy for Debbie because she was so happy."

The sheriff’s office confirms it's investigating the deaths as a double homicide. Deputies are not saying how the two were killed, but rumors are flying.

"You know, I've heard some people say that it may be somebody that knows them, but I just can't even imagine anybody hurting her, because Deborah was the type of person that if you needed something she'd give it to you,” said Waters.

Now, everyone must wait as investigators search for whomever is responsible for these deaths.

Waters said, “I just want to see whoever did this be brought to justice, because she didn't deserve this. I really hope they find who did this."

Right now for family, friends and even law enforcement, there are more questions than answers.
