Family of Murder Victim Begs Suspect to Surrender

Shoncoven Smith's family said they will have some closure once the man who killed their loved one is in police custody.

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The family of a murder victim urges the suspect police say is on the run to come forward.

The family of Shoncoven Smith reached out to us this afternoon.

They join Steven Hayes' father in pleading for Hayes to turn himself in.

Police say Steven Hayes shot and killed Smith and even shot another person that managed to get away.

"That was my baby. I won't see him again. Please turn yourself in. And to the family I'm sorry you're going through something you didn't expect and it's hard on all of us," Smith's mother said.

Smith's family members said the shooting happened after Hayes accused Smith of stealing his CD player.

Police consider Hayes to be armed and dangerous.

If you know where he can be found, call Little Rock Police.
