BAUXITE, AR -- Rural school districts could be getting faster internet service pretty soon.
The Legislature approved to set aside $5 million to support the Broadband Facilities Matching Grant Program.
The state will match rural school districts' pledges in order to expand broadband service in their classrooms.
Leaders in districts like Bauxite Schools said this will help teachers, who find it difficult to teach when the Internet service is slow.
"If they can't access what's in their lesson plans to use, then that disrupts their whole day or whole lesson," said Kim Arnold,
Bauxite leaders said it's expensive to increase the bandwith without some additional financial help.
