Burns Park Rocket Slide Back in Business

LITTLE ROCK, AR - After being vandalized earlier this year the Rocket Slide at Burns Park is back in business.

Two teenagers were arrested in January for setting fire for to the Burns Park landmark.

The fire detached one plastic slide away from the rocket slide and heavily damaged another side.

A community effort spearheaded by Jeanne Hyde raised enough money to restore the historic slide one dollar at a time, for the insurance deductible.

"I appreciate that the city and parks actually took that money and replaced it for us," says Jeanne Hyde.

Jeanne added she is glad the slide is back for the next generation to create memories on.

The fundraising group only needed $5,000 but the generous community donated over $6,000 to the restoration efforts.
