Benton Labor Day Shooting Injures 1 Man, Sends Another to Jail

The incident happened Monday afternoon on Latimer Drive.
BENTON, AR - A local man is jailed on a battery charge after a Labor Day shooting leaves a man injured.

It happened just before 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Officers with the Benton Police Department were called to a home on Latimer Dr. on a report of a person being shot in the back.

The victim was found lying on the ground and was later airlifted to a Little Rock hospital for treatment. Police have not yet released the victim's name or any further information on his condition.

The suspect arrested in the case is James Toland, 62, who was taken into custody at the scene. He's being held at the Saline County Jail.

There's no word on what led to the gunfire.
