Arkansas Ranked Among Country's 10 Most Depressing States

Health.com survey also shows psychological distress and other indicators of poor mental health are high in the Natural State.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas is one of the country's 10 most depressing states.

That's according to Health.com, which cites data from federal health agencies showing the listed states have the highest rates of depression, psychological distress, and other indicators of poor mental health.

The website says like the many other rural southern states on its list, "Arkansas consistently ranks among the worst in the nation on several measures of mental health, especially among young adults."

Other states on the list include: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia.
