"American Idol" Winner Sings to Help Tornado Victims

Kris Allen performed at a Conway church Friday as part of a benefit for those recovering from the April 27th tornado.
CONWAY -- An Arkansas celebrity lent his voice Friday night to help victims of the deadly April 27th tornado.

"American Idol" winner Kris Allen held a benefit concert at Fellowship Bible Church in Conway. The Vilonia High School choir backed him up. Kris' wife Katy is a teacher in Vilonia. She was checking on her students when the tornado hit.

Scotty Robinson was among those in attendance. His sister, Jamye Collins, was killed in the tornado. Robinson says he appreciates the support from one of the area's most famous faces.

"When i heard [Allen] was coming in... it was just - it meant a lot because there's a lot of people out there hurting, a lot of people who lost lives and lost everything they have."

All money raised during the concert will go toward recovery efforts.
