A Memory Made from a Simple Game of Catch

The Arkansas Travelers hosts a special surprise first pitch for a dad and his son.
North Little Rock, AR - Captain Mike Ellis of the United State Air Force recently wrapped up his seventh tour of duty.  For months he was stationed in Southwest Asia, while his wife and kids were in Arkansas.  Wednesday night the Arkansas Travelers gave this family a memory that will last a lifetime.

Captain Ellis said "I'm hoping I do my job, but it's going to be a special, special thing."

He was waited in the Travs dugout as his son made his way to the pitcher's mound to throw out the first pitch.  Then at the right moment Captain Ellis went to home plate to catch his son's pitch.  It was the first game of catch this father/son duo has played since Captain Ellis' return from duty.

After 8-year-old Jack threw the pitch, his dad told him, "Hey you keep this ball, you'll remember it, you did a great job."

Jack said after the pitch, "I thought it was awesome.

Captain Ellis will be only be home until is called to duty once again.
