A Joyful Reunion for One Mayflower Family

After the tornado leveled the neighborhood around them Jacque Hunt had no idea whether her dog Rocky had survived.
MAYFLOWER, AR - "This was the downstairs of the house there."

With a tornado headed straight for them ,the basement of the Hunt house was the best place more than a dozen people, including strangers could think to hide.

"And neighbors that came over before the storm."

Packed inside a tiny 2 by 12 foot room panic set in as what seemed like hell consumed everything around them.

"When the tornado hit we could hear it, feel it and it was shooting flames from the fire. Sparks and everything else."

What the tornado didn't blow away, a gas line rupture burnt to the ground. But everyone inside survived except there was one member of the Hunt family missing.

"I've been hunting for him for four days. I've searched and searched."

Until today.

"He looks wonderful oh he looks wonderful."

After the tornado leveled the neighborhood around them Jacque Hunt had no idea whether her dog Rocky had survived.

"I just didn't know where he was. I couldn't find him."

With everything else destroyed Rocky wasn't something she wanted to give up on.

"We get good news and bad news but always in the back of my mind I gotta find Rocky."

Looking for any way to help, family friend Linda Lynch devoted herself for four days searching until she found him at a Faulkner County shelter.

"It just makes you feel good. I have tears of joy. These aren't tears of unhappiness these are tears of joy just to see these people that are friends of family get their baby back."

Having watched the world around her shatter to the ground,

"We made it."

having one more piece to put it back together,

"We made it Rocky."

Is all Jacque can ask for.
