Landfill Hours Confusion: Where Can Mayflower Residents Take Debris?

Residents claim the main landfill closed shop early last Saturday which halted clean up efforts.
MAYFLOWER, AR - There's been confusion over where tornado survivors in Mayflower can take their debris. Residents claim the main landfill closed shop early last Saturday which halted clean up efforts.

Those who are getting rid of debris on their own are directed to take it to construction waste management off White City Road.

Today Faulkner County officials say the landfill owner told them he did not close at noon last weekend. They were open all day, and someone was circulating wrong information.

"I didn't go out to see the place but he specifically told me he was open all day and he will remain open all the hours he could to facilitate debris removal until people just stopped showing up," says David Hogue.

Because some people have stopped showing up the owner says he will most likely close operations tomorrow. This is also due in part to the wet weather.
