10-Year-Old Girl's Mother Speaks Out After Shooting

A Little Rock mom is happy her daughter is alive after she was shot in their neighborhood on Monday she's upset that kids in the area where this shooting happened can't play outside.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The mom is happy her daughter is alive but she's upset that kids in the area of 21st and Pine Street where this shooting happened can't play outside.

The mom says she didn't know her kids were locked out of the house on Monday night when she left to go pick up her husband from work.

The girl's brother says she crossed the street to use a neighbor's phone to call their mom.

As she was coming back outside shots were fired. The mom says she hopes these kinds of senseless acts stop.

"I mean we stay in the hood true enough, but for my 10-year-old to get shot, for a person to actually see that, you know, it was a whoever was in the yard, but it was a baby also, you know, they just had a cold heart," says mother Audrey Jones.

Police are still working with witnesses to find out who was shooting and are looking for an SUV that was seen driving away after the shooting.

As for the little girl, her mom says she should be coming home on Thursday.

She'll have to do physical therapy exercises every day, but overall, mom says she's a strong 10-year-old recovering well.
