Cold Weather Grips State, Warming Center Crowded During Day

High temperatures hovering in the teens to near twenty degrees Monday left few out and about in Little Rock.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - High temperatures hovering in the teens to near twenty degrees Monday left few out and about in Little Rock.

The Arkansas Dream Center on Daisy Gatson Bates Drive served as a city of Little Rock warming center on Monday.

Kristen Fagaly says the center actually saw more people during the daylight hours than came in Sunday night from the cold.

"We were about 100 sleeping here last night," Fagaly says. "We're easily over 125 this afternoon."

Across the city few people were seen out and about.

The major construction project at the Big Rock Interchange in west Little Rock was virtually deserted.

Jim Jolly with Weaver-Bailey Contractors says frozen ground makes their work difficult.

"If we're below 25 degrees, we can't do much," Jolly says. "It's too cold to pour concrete."
