Ash Leaves Arkansas, Heads to Ohio State

Arkansas defensive coordinator Chris Ash has left the Razorback program to join the Ohio State football staff as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR - According to a story by Pete Thamel of SI.com, Arkansas defensive coordinator Chris Ash has left the Razorback program to join the Ohio State football staff as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach.

Ash leaves the Razorbacks after serving only one season under Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema in Fayetteville.  Prior to that Ash was the defensive coordinator at Wisconsin in 2011 and 2012. 

Ash is the second coach to leave the program this winter after defensive line coach Charlie Partridge took the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic.

Arkansas defense struggled in Ash's first season ranking 76th in total  defense giving up 413 yards a game.  His defense was also 88th giving up  nearly 31 points a game in 2013.

According to the article the announcement of the hire at Ohio State will be made later this week.

Just after noon on Tuesday Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema posted this on his twitter account.

"Have always felt transition on my staff has allowed us to get even better. Have had success hiring right people and will again. #1-0"
