Arkansas State Flag 100th Year Celebration goes to the Fair

In honor of the anniversary, a display about the history of the Arkansas flag has been set up in the Hall of Industry.

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Arkansas State Flag 100th Year Celebration is being celebrated at the Arkansas State Fair, and across Arkansas.

The flag was designed by Miss Willie K. Hocker of Wabbaseka to fly aboard the U.S.S. Arkansas early in the 20th century.

In honor of the anniversary, a display about the history of the Arkansas flag has been set up in the Hall of Industry at the State Fair.

Local author and Wabbaseka native Jason Irby has spearheaded events to observe the flag anniversary.

Irby also pledged the first $500.00 toward the establishment of a monument to Hocker in Wabbaseka.

Saturday, the U.S. Navy Band joined state officials in Wabbaseka for a celebration of the flag.
