Ark. Dept. of Education IDs 43 Low-Performing Schools

Mills High School has made the list for the third time
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has identified 43 schools in urgent need of improvement, including two in the Pulaski County Special School District.

Although Mills High School has made the list for the third time, PCCSD officials say it's not good news to be on the list again, but it's not all bad either.

"That's I guess the good thing about not being on a borderline, but being identified, and that is, we will get the support in place, both the programs and personnel, that will come to our aid that will allow us to raise up these schools and help the students." says Deb Roush, PCSSD Spokesperson.

The state assumed control of the Pulaski County Special School District two years ago.

If schools on the list do not improve, campus prinicipals can be removed.
