American Airlines Discontinues Direct Flights to D.C.

While the Little Rock Airport is losing one route they are gaining another.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- American Airlines Group announced Wednesday that they have discontinued their non-stop service from Little Rock to Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) under US Airways,and non-stop service from LIT to New York LaGuardia (LGA) through American Airlines. This announcement came as today as a planned network adjustment for American Airlines.

Shane Carter, Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, released a statement saying,"We have worked extremely hard to keep service to the nation's capitol.

However, the required divestiture of slots at Reagan National, combined with a lack of demand from passengers, led to the route being discontinued."

Carter went on to say, "We have an excellent relationship with American Airlines Group, and appreciate its leadership's continued confidence in our community."

The discontinued route began in March 2012.

While the Little Rock Airport is losing one route they are gaining another.The Airport Commission has been working with American for several months to finalize details on non-stop service from Little Rock to LaGuardia that will begin in April.
