Update: Police Release Name of Woman Killed in NLR Intersection Shooting

Police say she was the mother of the baby in the backseat, who was not injured in the incident.

Update (August 15):
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Police have released the name of the woman shot and killed as she drove through an intersection Wednesday night.

She is identified as Samantha Cass, 31, of North Little Rock. Police say she was married and the baby in the backseat, who was not hurt, was hers. The child is now with the father.

According to a Facebook page for the woman, she was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and attended UALR. She worked as an accountant and also a restaurant server.

Police urge anyone with information about the incident that happened around 7:00 at J.F.K. & McCain, to call the 24-hour tip line at (501) 680-8439.

Update (9:13 p.m.)

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR --A woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital after being shot at the intersection of JFK Boulevard and McCain Avenue shortly after 7 p.m., according to the North Little Rock Police Department.

Police say the victim was shot while driving in her car with an infant. The child was taken to the Arkansas Children's Hospital and appears to be uninjured.

Witnesses at the scene said the alleged suspect was driving while he fired and was seen in a black or maroon four-door Ford F-150 or F-250 with chrome wheels and a chrome bumper, as well as an orange welding case on the back. 

Investigators are at the scene with metal detectors in search of shell casings to determine whether there was one fatal shot or multiple shots fired.

Witnesses inside Walgreens located across the street said they heard multiple gunshots and ducked, fearing they were in the line of fire. 

Police are looking for help from any witnesses who were at the scene of the crime around 7:15 p.m.  They noted the difficulty of finding the alleged suspect because as of now, the incident appears to be random.

Police are on the scene of a shooting in North Little Rock.

According to the North Little Rock Police Department (NLRPD), the incident happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. at JFK and McCain.

Police say one person is injured, but the extent of those injuries is currently unknown.
