Razorbacks Dashed by Aggies, 50-43 in Overtime

ARLINGTON, Tx - The Arkansas Razorbacks opened SEC play in style at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX with a 50-43 loss in overtime to Texas A&M.

Arkansas wasted no time showing an improved offense, using 7 plays to go 65 yards for the first score of the game, when Austin Allen found Jared Cornelius for a 6 yard touchdown pass. Offensive coordinator Dan Enos dove into his bag of tricks on the 2nd play of the drive, when Chase Hayden took the direct snap and raced 22 yards to put Arkansas in A&M territory.

Texas A&M would respond with an 81 yard touchdown pass from Kellen Mond to a wide open Christian Kirk.

Enos would go into his bag of tricks one more time two drives later when Cole Kelley came into the game and converted a quarterback keeper for 13 yards to pick up a 1st down. Kelley would end the drive with a 2 yard touchdown pass to David Williams.

Later in the 2nd, Henre Toliver would record his 1st interception of the season when he picked off Mond at the Texas A&M 33 yard line. Arkansas would capitalize with a Hayden 6 yard touchdown run.

Arkansas took a 21-17 lead into the half after A&M went on a 10-0 run to end the 1st half.

On Arkansas' 1st possession of the 3rd quarter, senior wide receiver Jared Cornelius left the game with an ankle injury.

Texas A&M struck first in the 3rd quarter, with a Keith Ford 23 yard touchdown run just three plays after converting a 4th down from the Arkansas 35 yard line.

Arkansas would respond though with a 6 play touchdown drive, capped off with a 1 yard run by David Williams to give the Hogs a 28-24 lead. The drive featured two big plays, a Jordan Jones end around that went for 20 yards and a pass from Allen to Williams for 26 yards that put the Hogs at the goal line.

Texas A&M wouldn't stay down for long. After a field goal pulled them within 1, Keith Ford ripped off a 44 yard run to give A&M a 33-28 lead following a failed two point conversion.

The following drive, Arkansas would regain the lead when Allen found Jonathan Nance for a 44 yard touchdown, then Allen found Jeremy Patton for the 2 point conversion to put Arkansas up 3.

On the ensuing kickoff, Kirk would go 100 yards for the score to put Texas A&M up 40-36.

Arkansas would continue the back and forth, using David Williams' 3rd touchdown of the game to take a 43-40 lead. During the drive, Allen found Nance for a 45 yard pass to get Arkansas to the A&M 4 yard line.

With 4 seconds to go, Daniel LaCamera knocked through a 27 yard field goal to tie the game up at 43.

In the 1st overtime period, Mond found Kirk for a 10 yard touchdown a play after Kamren Curl was called for pass interfence on a 3rd down play. Allen was intercepted in the endzone to end the game.
