Update: Summit Bank Robbery Suspect Connected to Two More Robberies

(Update July 2):
BENTON, AR - The suspect in the Benton Summit Bank Robbery at 1113 Hwy 35 N. on Tuesday is connected to two other robberies of the same Benton Bank, according to police.

Police identify the suspect as Richard Swicegood, 37, of Texas. He was caught on a traffic stop by Arkansas State Police near Forrest City.

Detectives with the Benton Police Department, working with agents from the FBI on the case, learned that Swicegood was driving a red Ford Mustang with Texas license plates.

Arkansas State troopers near Forrest City were able to find the vehicle on I-40 between Palestine and Forrest City.

After being arrested by State Police, Benton detectives and FBI agents from Little Rock took Swicegood into custody.

Information and evidence that was gathered by police links Swicegood to the robbery on July 1, and also to robberies that took place at the same bank in 2009 and 2011 (see photos below).

Swicegood is charged with 11 counts of Aggravated Robbery, 3 counts of Theft of Property, and 1 count of Unauthorized Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime.

BENTON, AR - A Benton Summit Bank robbery suspect from earlier today has been taken into police custody in Forrest City.

Benton Police Department detectives are currently on the scene and the investigation is still ongoing.

BENTON, AR - Police are searching for a suspect in the robbery of a Summit Bank branch.

The holdup happened around 9:40 this morning at 1114 Highway 35N on the city's west end, just north of Interstate 30.

The Benton Police Department says the suspect is a white man who's about 5'10" tall and was wearing a grey 'Affliction' style t-shirt.

The man, who was armed with a pistol, demanded money after pointing the weapon towards a clerk.  

After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, he then ran from the bank.
