"Suspicious" Person Prompts 5 Hour LRAFB Lockdown

Update (4:10 p.m.):
More than four hours after a lockdown was issued at the Little Rock Airforce Base (LRAFB) on reports of a suspicious individual, it has been lifted.

A message was sent out over loud speakers on the base that said, "all clear, threat has passed."

After an exhaustive search in order to locate this suspicious individual, that person was never found.

Here's the official news release on the incident from LRAFB officials:
LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, AR (News release) - The base-wide lockdown has been lifted as of 4:10 p.m., and normal base operations have resumed.

The lockdown was enacted at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the interest of protecting all base members and resources from a reported suspicious individual.

"We responded with the necessary caution to secure our Airmen, their families and Air Force resources," Col. Patrick Rhatigan, 19th Airlift Wing commander, said. "After a thorough search of the base, we found the report no longer credible. I am pleased with the response of our Security Forces and appreciate the support of the Jacksonville Police Department and other federal law enforcement officials. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, but security and safety is our top priority."
