Springdale Football Coach Arrested for Drunk Driving

FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) - An assistant football coach for a Springdale junior high school is accused of drunk driving after a weekend traffic stop.

According to the incident report, William Cory Jacobs, 40, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech when he was pulled over early Sunday evening.

Jacobs was driving his Dodge pickup on Colorado Dr. when officers say he made an improper turn onto W. Wedington Dr. and was driving out of the lane. After pulling him over at Wedington and Rupple, investigators say they found the driver "highly intoxicated."

The officer said Jacobs would not tell officers how many alcoholic beverages he had consumed, but did tell them he had both beer and mixed drinks. In the police report, investigators stated Jacobs took a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and was then taken to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The report states Jacobs refused to take a chemical test of his breath.

Jacobs was released from jail Sunday evening.

He is listed on the coaching staff at George Junior High School.
