Update: Man Who Died in Fall from I-40 Bridge Identified

Update (Aug.. 26):
WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Authorities have released the name of the construction worker who fell to his death from a bridge on Friday.

Luis Berrocal, 52, was employed by Payne Steel Erectors. he was part of a crew working on the construction of I-40 between W. Memphis and the Hernando DeSoto Bridge.  

About 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Berrocal fell about 40 feet from the elevated overpass construction zone to the ground below. He was pronounced dead after being taken to Crittenden Regional Hospital.

WEST MEMPHIS, AR -- A construction worker who fell off the Hernando DeSoto Bridge on Interstate 40 has died.

The Crittenden County Sheriff's Office reports the man was using equipment on the bridge without wearing a safety belt.

He fell and then landed on the ground.

The victim's name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
