The Women's Giving Circle and the U of A Police department dedicated a new golf cart to the Razorback Patrol Golf Cart Escort Program. Razorback Patrol is an escort program that transports students around campus at night, so they don't have to walk alone.
Students can call Razorback Patrol from anywhere on campus, and a golf cart driven buy work-study cadets will pick the person up and take him or her to wherever they need to go on campus.
"The new cart will immediately decrease the response time to escorts," Corp. Brett Waddell of UAPD said. "With an average of 800 escorts each month, taking into account that some are frequent users of the service, it will impact an estimated 500 people each month."
Waddell says he believes the enhancement of this program can potentially help an additional 150 to 200 students every month.
Razorback Patrol received a $22,000 grant from the Women's Giving Circle to buy the golf cart and offset additional costs with the program.
