LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A local barber shop unveiled its mentoring program for young boys during a customer appreciation day.
Skillz Barber Shop -- located next to Grady's Pizza on 12th Street -- held it's third annual appreciation event today.
Tobacco Free Arkansas was also part of the family fun event.
Lonnie Brown from Skillz says the outing focused on teaching boys man skills.
"We all know it takes a village to raise a kid and most of the kids may not have a complete village at their own households," Brown said. "We just want to be those positive men in the community now to be the positive influence that will help them later on in life."
The first meeting included 19 boys and nine mentors. The group's next meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. at the barber shop.
