Pulaski Co. Jail Escapee Still On the Run

Update (11:55 a.m.):
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says escapee Anael Castro was spotted shortly before 11 a.m. in a wooded area near Interstate Park. 

K-9 units and a chopper are being used to search the area for the inmate who escaped from custody around 8 this morning in downtown Little Rock.

Castro had been jailed since May 2013 after being accused of three counts of rape involving a child under the age of 14.

Castro is 5'1" tall and weighs about 118 pounds

Update (8:55 a.m.):
LITTLE ROCK, AR - A search continues in downtown for an escaped Pulaski County Jail inmate.

Officials say the shirt worn by Anael Hernandez Castro, 30, of North Little Rock, was found soon after the escape at 6th & Scott streets.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A Pulaski County Jail inmate has escaped from a transport vehicle.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office reports it happened as a group of inmates were being taken to the courthouse downtown around 8 a.m. today.

The inmate is identified as Anael Hernandez Castro, 30, who is charged with rape. His jail record also notes holds for immigration authorities and the state hospital.

The eStem school in downtown was placed on lockdown for about an hour as deputies searched for the escapee until it was determined he was likely no longer in the area.
