LITTLE ROCK, AR - The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following Ice Storm Warning in effect until 6 p.m.

The NWS says wintry precipitation will develop and quickly overspread the area this morning. Mainly freezing rain is expected in the warning area...with some sleet possible.

Areas affected by the warning are from Mount Ida, Hot Springs and Little Rock northeast through Russellville, Conway, Searcy, Mountain View, Batesville and Hardy.

Precipitation will continue much of this morning into the early afternoon. A changeover to rain will occur this afternoon before ending.

Ice accumulations are expected to total 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

Travel will be affected by the winter precipitation this morning into the early afternoon.

An ice storm warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly discouraged. Commerce will likely be severely impacted. Ice accumulations and winds will likely lead to snapped power lines and falling tree branches that add to the danger.
