LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) - The Mabelvale Middle School Choir, led by Choir Director Matthew Farr, has been selected to perform at historic Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The trip is set to take place from March 28-31, 2015, with the performance taking place on March 30, 2015.
In order to make this dream a reality, the students are seeking donations and/or sponsors to fund the trip. Donations may be made at this link. All proceeds directly impact the Mabelvale Choir Program.
"This trip will be a fun and exciting educational experience for our choir students that supersedes all others, "said Farr. "The students will work with professional conductors and singers as well as attend master classes that will enhance their individual vocal abilities," he added.
The Mabelvale Middle School Choir is comprised of students from four choirs within the vocal music department. The four choirs are: Sixth Grade Beginning Choir, 7th/8th Grade Female Choir, 7th/8th Grade Concert Choir, and the Mabelvale Select Choir, which is an auditioned group. The choirs have consistently received Division I Superior Ratings for their performances in the American Choral Director Association Competitions, as well as Division I Sight Singing Ratings.
In 2013, Mabelvale had ten students selected to participate in the Central All Region Choir, the most for the Little Rock School District middle schools. Of those ten students, two were first chair singers. As the program continues to grow each year, several additions will be made to ensure its success.
