LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) - Improvements to Highway 35 will require lane closures in Cleveland County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Crews will be resurfacing Highway 35 north of Rison. The work will extend south on Highway 35 from the Grant County Line to Highway 79 in Rison. The work will reduce traffic to one lane.
The lane closure will be Monday, Aug. 18 through Thursday, Aug. 21, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using flaggers and warning signs.
Crews will be applying Bituminous Surface Treatment (Liquid Asphalt and Crushed Stone). It’s a proven method of sealing cracks and providing a durable wearing surface utilizing local materials at an economical cost. It usually takes from four to eight days from the time the material is placed until the loose material is swept off the roadway. The time varies with the length of the section being surfaced and the weather conditions. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling on a highway that is undergoing this treatment because the crushed stone can cause glass breakage when it is kicked up by a vehicle that is traveling too fast for conditions.
Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
