BENTONVILLE, AR (KNWA) - On Thursday, members of the Our Walmart group lined the sidewalk in front of Walmart Home Office and the neighborhood of the Chairman of the Board of Walmart.

The group was protesting what they call "illegal retaliation against workers who speak out about low wages and erratic scheduling."

The demonstrators, which included Walmart employees and union representatives, said the demonstrations were in were asking new CEO Doug McMillon to "take the company in a new direction that Americans can be proud of."

The group said they planned to head back to McMillon's neighborhood Thursday afternoon and hope to speak to him about their complaints. In a press release, OUR Walmart said they've planned these demonstrations as well as employee walk-offs all over the country in response to Walmart Shareholders Week events.

David Tovar with Walmart says the group is not affecting the Shareholders events and claims many on the protest line are paid union supporters. In a statement released Wednesday, Tovar reports that only about 100 associates participated, fewer than the group that turned out for a similar OUR Walmart event at last year's Shareholders week.
