LITTLE ROCK, AR - Because education matters North Little Rock School leaders have hired a demographer to help design new boundaries for the district's elementary schools.

A committee made up of parents, business leaders, and district leaders are meeting at Park Hill Elementary School tonight to redraw boundary lines.

This is a result of the district's capital improvement plan to shrink the number of elementary schools from 13 to 9.

It's a plan that involves building and renovating schools.

"We are looking at the number of students in each neighborhood and we will be able to very adequately and effectively and cost-efficiently place students in schools in close proximity to where they live," says Shara Brazear.

The meeting is going on right now at Park Hill Elementary and district leaders hope to have new boundary lines by June and begin the changes during the 2015-16 school year.
