CRITTENDEN, AR -- One week after flames shut down Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis, patients are being taken across the bridge to Memphis Hospitals.

The hospital suffered a lot of water damage from the sprinklers.

Meanwhile -- people continue to get sick, emergencies happen, and there are long waits for ambulances.

Assistant Chief Jeff Jones says travel time is much longer to Memphis than Crittenden.

"We've had some long wait times. Typically when we transport to Crittenden we're in and out in 15 to 30 minutes. Typical Memphis time is an hour or more," Jones said.

The influx of patients from West Memphis is also causing more congestion and longer wait times in Memphis Emergency Rooms.

The hospital is hoping to re-open on June 23rd.
