LITTLE ROCK, AR -- There will be an increase in law enforcement officers out on the roadways this Memorial Day weekend.
And they will have ticket books in hand looking for drivers that are not wearing their seatbelts.
Director of the Arkansas State Police Colonel Stan Witt says seatbelts can help save many lives.
"There are too many people dying on our roadways, and many of those deaths could have been prevented if people had taken the simple step of wearing their seat belts," Witt said.
In 2012, 226 people died in Arkansas as a result of having an accident without wearing their seatbelt.
