CABOT, AR - An Officer with the Cabot Police Department has resigned from his job after being arrested for public intoxication.

Officers were called to the home of Matthew Milby, 38, Wednesday morning shortly after 9 after a report of a man and woman arguing on the street.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw Officer Milby and his wife arguing in the front yard of their home.

Officers separated the couple and noted two large dents in Milby's patrol car and an overturned flower pot.

Milby's wife reportedly told police that her husband was responsible for the damage.

According to the police report Milby and his wife had been arguing earlier in the week.

He also faces criminal mischief charges.

"This is the first time that we've had one of our officers involved in this type of incident where they were arrested," said Sergeant Keith Graham with the Cabot Police Department.

"He decided on his own, he was very upset for the most part. He knew he messed up, and he has to deal with the consequences for it."
