Web Extra: LR Zoo Staffers Lip Sync Video

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Some employees at the Little Rock Zoo are having a little fun on the job to put their workplace in the spotlight.

They've made a special video (watch it below) as part of the AAZK* Lip Sync Video Challenge.

A zoo spokesperson tells us that several zoos from across the country are participating in the challenge, and the Little Rock AAZK chapter wanted to give it a try to let the world know what a special place the Little Rock Zoo is (home to more than 700 beautiful, magnificent creatures). The timely video debuted just before National Zoo Keeper Week, which runs July 16-22.

"Zoo keepers are incredibly passionate about what they do. Caring for animals is their mission, and it extends beyond their work at the Zoo to conservation efforts around the globe," said Zoo spokesperson Jennifer Godwin. "This coming weekend, the AAZK chapter here is holding an event called Winos for Rhinos, which is a wine tasting to raise funds for the conservation of rhinos and other African animals."

Ellie Wheeler, one of the Zoo's elephant keepers, rallied together a group of Zoo staff for this video, which was shot over the course of two days and features cameos from animals such as Lily, the Zoo's miniature horse, Pinny the prehensile-tailed porcupine, Babe the harmonica-playing elephant, and many, many more. Molly, one of the Zoo's education animals, does the mic drop at the end of the video. It also features Johari, one of the Zoo's two black rhinos, which are among the most endangered species in the world.

This video was created with the help of Chris Cranford.
