Update: Benton Accident Death Toll Rises to 2

Update (Sept. 29): 
BENTON, Ark. (News release) - A minor-child passenger in a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, has succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision, becoming the second life lost in the incident.

At approximately 3:58 p.m. Monday, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision at Benton Parkway near the intersection of Edison Avenue. 

A driver of one of the vehicles involved, 76-year-old Judy Burton-Bradford of Bryant, was pronounced deceased on Monday at the scene. One driver and three minor-aged passengers were transported to local hospitals, with one of the passengers having now succumbed to injuries and being pronounced deceased.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing. The Benton Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team, along with the Benton Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, are investigating the cause of the crash. Further details will be available at a later time.  

Update (Sept. 26):

BENTON, Ark. - New information is being released about a deadly Monday afternoon accident.

The Benton Police Department (BNPD) has identified the driver who died when two vehicles collided head-on at Benton Parkway near the intersection of Edison Ave. as Judy Burton-Bradford, 76, of Bryant.

Police say the driver of the second vehicle, as well as three children, were taken to area hospitals for treatment. 

No information has been released about the severity of their injuries. 

The investigation of the fatality accident continues by the BNPD Accident Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigation Division.

BENTON, Ark. - One person is reported to have been killed in a head-on car accident on Monday afternoon.

The Benton Police Department (BNPD) says it happened just before 4 p.m. on Benton Parkway near the intersection of Edison Avenue.

According to a BNPD news release, one person was pronounced dead at the scene and four others were taken to the hospital.

The Benton Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team, along with the Benton Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, are investigating the cause of the crash.
