LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - SB724 passed the Arkansas Senate Friday morning after passing the House Thursday afternoon. The bill now heads to the Governor's desk.
SB724 exempts athletic events on the collegiate level, teaching hospitals including UAMS, and daycares, from a new gun law that allows concealed carry permit holders with enhanced training to bring guns in sensitive areas.
Exemptions for athletic events will only be made if a security plan is put in place, submitted to and approved by the Arkansas State Police.
"Senate Bill 724 allows college stadiums for games to submit a security plan to the Arkansas State Police and lay out here's what we're going to do to protect folks at the game," said Rep. Charlie Collins.
