UCA Holds its Fourth Annual "Day of Giving" Drive

CONWAY, Ark.- Alumni, parents, faculty, and staff at the University of Central Arkansas, were in the giving spirit Thursday.

Thursday marked the fourth annual "Day of Giving", a 24-hour drive where everyone is challenged to make a donation to support students, campus, and the community.

Last year's drive raised $41,000.

This year, they literally shattered that record, with donors giving more than $300,000.

Hershila Lallu, Executive President of the UCA Student Government Association, says, "As a student, sometimes the difference between someone being able to stay in school and having to drop out is as little as $50 or $100, and so it really means a lot when students have something like the emergency student scholarship fund so that they get to stay in school, and they get to experience UCA."

Donations will fund a number of different things, including scholarships for students in financial need, faculty and research projects, as well as guest lecturers, exhibits, and performances.
