NEWPORT, Ark. - Six mobile homes were damaged early Wednesday morning when severe weather moved through Jackson County.
The damage was reported at the Arkansas Department of Correction's (ADC) Grimes Unit in Newport.
No inmates were injured but one employee who was hurt was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The ADC says the heavily damaged mobile homes served as staff housing. Efforts are underway to provide temporary housing to the displaced employees.
Officials say there was additional damage to the roof of the gym, A/C units, and to exterior storage buildings at the Grimes Unit. The department is working closely with local emergency services personnel to continue to assess the damage.
The body was found after a boating accident Friday night.
