LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A man's death in Rockport (Hot Spring County) is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police (ASP).
The ASP says the agency was contacted at 8 a.m. Tuesday by officers of the Rockport Police Department (RPD) requesting that its Criminal Investigation Division look into an overnight homicide.
An ASP news release identifies the man who died Monday night as Jaraad Hasan, 29, of 399 West Butterfield Cutoff Rd. in Rockport. He was pronounced dead after a call to the RPD reported a domestic disturbance inside Hasan’s home.
State Police say a 28-year-old woman who also lived there was taken into custody by Rockport officers.
State Police Special Agents have begun to review statements and evidence taken by Rockport officers and will await reports from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory that are expected to confirm a manner and cause of death.
Agents will prepare an investigative file to be presented to the Hot Spring County Prosecuting Attorney to determine whether any criminal charges might be filed in connection with the homicide.
