FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Numerous media outlets, including USA TODAY and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, report SMU head football coach Chad Morris is being targeted to take the same position with the University of Arkansas.
While we can't confirm Arkansas and Morris have reached an agreement, we're being told the two sides are in discussions. Sportstalk radio host Bo Mattingly reports a decision an announcement could come as early as today.
Morris has a record of 14-22 in three seasons at SMU. His Mustangs are slated to compete in the Frisco Bowl this year after posting a 7-5 record.
Prior to coaching in Dallas, Morris served as the offensive coordinator at Clemson.
Former Arkansas recruit Rafe Peavey, who now attends SMU, made it seems as if a deal was imminent.

We've reached out to Morris by phone and text message but haven't yet heard back. We even used an emoji. No luck.
