PINE BLUFF, Ark. - A local man is behind bars after being accused in the beating death of his sister's boyfriend.
The Pine Bluff Police Department (PBPD) says Allen Claggett, 43, faces a murder charge in the death of Henry Johnson, 57.
Police say Johnson was injured early in the morning on June 2 during an argument at a home in the 1700 block of S. Hickory. According to the incident report, Claggett's sister told police he had struck Johnson in the face several times and when he fell to the floor, Claggett stomped on Johnson. The men had reportedly argued after Claggett accused Johnson of beating Claggett's sister. The woman told police she ran outside to call for help but her brother made her come back inside the house.
Around noon that same day, Claggett's sister called for help when she found Johnson unconscious and having a seizure. The incident report noted that the woman's right eye was bruised and swollen and that EMTs told police Johnson had "massive head injuries."
According to the PBPD, Johnson was taken to a Little Rock hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries, where he died on the evening of June 13.
Jefferson County jail records show Claggett had been arrested June 3 on a battery charge and now faces a Capital Murder charge. He is being held without bond.
