One Jonesboro Officer Dragged, Second Officer Hit by Fleeing Driver

JONESBORO, Ark. - Two employees of the Jonesboro Police Department were injured Thursday afternoon while trying to stop a fleeing motorist at the Animal Control facility on E. Highland Dr.
A Jonesboro Police officer was dragged by the suspect’s vehicle as the suspect fled. While driving away, the suspect then hit a Jonesboro Animal Control officer. 
After the incident, Jonesboro officers tracked down and arrested the man. He has been identified as Kendrick Morris, 27, of Jonesboro.
Morris was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where he is awaiting a probable cause hearing for the charges of:
  • Battery 2nd Degree
  • Aggravated Assault on a Certified Law Enforcement Officer
  • Driving While License Suspended
The Jonesboro police officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is in stable condition. The animal control officer’s injuries did not require treatment.
