Officials Say Gun Found at AR High School, Students Questioned by Police

Update: WHITE HALL, Ark. - 

On Nov. 8 at around 11 a.m. the White Hall Police Department received a call from the White Hall School District that two students had been detained for possessing a firearm on school property.

When officers arrived, two juveniles were in the administration office speaking with school officials. 

According to the White Hall Police, administration personnel were informed about the student in question having the firearm in his backpack. School administrators located the student with the handgun without incident and school officials had seized possession of the firearm. 

Investigators with the White Hall Police Department say that one student brought the firearm from his residence and gave it to the other student while on campus in an attempt to sell it.

Officers say that at no time was there any threats made to students, facility or staff. 

White Hall School District released a statement saying that they are extremely proud of their staff for following proper training protocol, thus minimizing any threat to staff and students. The statement reads, "That as unfortunate as this incident was, our first and upmost priority was the safety of our students and staff."

The White Hall Police Department acknowledges that a firearm on campus is a serious threat to all who are present and takes any incident of this nature serious. The White Hall School District took immediate and appropriate action to prevent any possible harm to the students, faculty and staff. Both the White Hall School District and the White Hall Police Department will continue to work diligently together to prevent any other future incident of this nature. Safety for our students, faculty and staff will always be a high priority for both the White Hall School District and White Hall Police Department.

WHITE HALL, Ark. - White Hall School District Superintendent confirms a gun was found in a high school student's backpack on Wednesday. 

Superintendent says two students are being questioned by police. Students are in 9th and 11th grades.
