LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A suspect shot by local police officers early Thursday morning on the city's southwest side is expected to survive.
That's according to the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD), which has not yet released the name of the man wounded in the officer-involved shooting that happened shortly after midnight. The LRPD says he is 22-years-old.
Officers had been called to the area of 53rd St. and Geyer Springs Rd. for a reported rape and stabbing.
They caught one suspect soon after arriving but say the other was hiding outside the Geyer Springs Church of Christ.
When ordered to come out, LRPD Chief Kenton Buckner said the suspect took a "shooting stance" and two officers fired multiple shots at him. No weapon has been found.
There's no word yet on the condition of the rape victim.
