LITTLE ROCK , Ark. (News release) – Two Faulkner County women, a mother and daughter, have been arrested for Medicaid fraud, Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge said.
Vonita G. Herbert, 28, of Conway, and her mother, Juanita Faye Rowden, 49, of Greenbrier, were arrested and charged with Medicaid fraud, a Class B felony. They are accused of billing $2,639.70 for services not rendered to an 89-year-old woman who was bedridden. In addition, they were both charged with Abuse of Adults – Neglect Causing Serious Physical Injury of Substantial Risk of Death, a Class D felony.
The Conway Police Department made the arrests on warrants from the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Both were transported to the Faulkner County Detention Facility, where they each posted a $10,000 bond and were released.
Medicaid fraud occurs when providers use the Medicaid program to obtain money to which they are not entitled.
